New features

Outline logging is now also available when working with a live camera image, both in standalone textural and in concurrent (compositional + textural data compilation) logging modes, with improved pore throat tagging and new options for collecting grain coat data that is Touchstone compatible.

Information on pore throats has been added to Reporting Quantitative Textural Measurements.

There is a new 'Capture Video' option, which should be useful for, for example, recording rotation of the microscope stage.

Addition of options for 'horizontal only' and 'vertical only' open crosshairs on images.

Having received requests for support for several new formats for importing legacy data, the process has been generalised to allow user-specification of main parameters of layout and content.

Improvements to importing images for logging from captured images (as opposed to live images).

Printing is now available to a generic printer, with options to: edit Boxes and Pictures; create/edit/delete/copy page header/footer (with validity checks on page/page header/page footer/template collisions).

Estimation textural data has been added to quantitative textural reports, to allow for data having been collected for both modes in a sample and/or a project.

Note that many of these additions to the functionality are the result of user requests. Please let us know if you have requests, large or small.

Manual

Updated version of the software manual is now available for download, with additions for all new features.

Bug fixes

Improved drawing of crosshair lines when zooming out, to prevent some or all of the crosshair lines from disappearing.

Whole Slide Image import: problem if there were embedded '.' characters in filenames.

Fix for sorting of compositional image lists when working with stored XPL and PPL images.

Better user-awareness reporting when changing image source, i.e. between an actual, physical camera and a virtual camera (stored / imported images).

Importing whole slide images: fix for problem with re-importing an image with the same name.

Importing compositional data: fix for problem that the edited data was all zero, and so options such as concentric pie plots were saying that no data was available to plot.

Importing PetrogLite data: fixes so that this is fully compatible with PetrogLite v5 data.

There was a problem whereby the image window may be temporarily hidden when doing outline logging on live camera images; now fixed.

Fix for handling form key presses when the active image window is the virtual camera window.

Saving of textural images during 'concurrent' logging with outline logging: overlays are now saved with the saved image.

Closing windows in standalone textural logging mode, for major/minor and grain outline logging methods.

In the 'coal' data style, some database messages could appear on start-up; now fixed.

Some minor bug-fixes for estimated textural and logging from imported whole slide images.

Fix for creating of ticklists from Data Methodology, which was missing a step with the result that the type of the ticklist created was not being set.

Better management of line drawing in textural logging modes.

Reporting Quantitative Textural Measurements was overwriting what it had already written into the grid; now fixed.

Reporting Quantitative Textural Measurements was not showing the final measurement.

Improvements to Select Sample (List): addition of "previous well" button, previous and next buttons now cycle properly and are correctly captioned dependent on data style.

Microscope definition: fixes for problems when creating a new microscope, due to confusion between current and new microscope objectives / calibrations.

Fixes for Create New Project / Edit Project - fixed bugs with window caption and accidental creation of multiple projects, if the user made changes to the project name after accepting it (this now cannot be done, as the edit control disables).

Quantitative logging from pre-collected images was overwriting a 'B' image.

The number of compositional points could not be set higher than 2000 due to a constraint in the editor, now removed.

Some logging sequences requiring three levels (e.g. replacive cements) do not accept the third level of detail if the dictionary is badly ordered. New dictionary-ordering tool introduced.

Fix for licencing problem in VirtualImageCam version, incorrectly reporting the expiry date if an ID is found but no key.

Fix for a bug in reporting the plug number.

Improvements to line thickness calculation for zooming.

Problem with overlay lines not drawing correctly in certain circumstances, now fixed.

Fix for errors in "collect images for stitching" (Zeiss cameras only, due to an DLL update).

Minor improvements to "Add Trace Item" option during logging.

Fix for Rose/Kite diagrams not plotting properly.

Corrected errors in XRD due to mapping densities to compound items, as opposed to items in dictionaries.

Misc. / specific data styles

New Concrete (Aggregates) data style; updates to installer program to support this data style.

Extensions to XRD and Mineral inclusions for ceramics (archaeological data style).

Specific generalisation of  'report to printer' for concrete data style.

Relates to 3rd party software

Installer updates required to support latest Mk1.5 FTDI drivers (CDM v212364).

Petrog Virtual Keyboard  (PVK)

Phonic confirmations are now active in the PVK while logging (previously only in the editor).

Improvements to mechanism for selection of active keyboard layouts for the current sample.

PetrogLite

Improvements

PVK with Touchstone mapping now works regardless of the current setting of "number of keypresses per point".

Fixes for issues when switching between samples (i.e. re-opening previously logged samples) to ensure that PVK-related settings are initialised correctly for each sample.

New version of the manual is now available, including updated functionality in the PVK Editor.
