PETROG 6.0.4

Release date : 2026-07-09

PETROG

Enhancements to new licenced modules:

PetrogDownhole - extended plot options (e.g. pie charts), multiple dialog functionality/layout improvements

PetrogScan - improvements to whole slide image import process relating to display and selection of thumbnail images; now all loaded in first pass, and starts at lowest level and works way up until it finds a thumbnail that matches the expected number of channels (tested with a number of example Zeiss AxioScan CZI files); Refine Thumbnails - a new related menu option under Imaging, for creating a new refined thumbnail that improves accuracy (for navigation) over the imported thumbnail (separate option as user may not want/need this, and it is time consuming)

New features

Log files for diagnostics (sometimes requested by the PETROG support team) are now named PETROGlog*.txt (still saved in the "My Documents" folder of the active Windows user account)

Enhancements

Various fixes and workflow/performance enhancements for multiple modes - point counting (standard, and manual move for cuttings), grain sizing (all standalone textural modes), AoI, review logged points, and revisit/review selected points - when working with virtual whole slide images; includes performance enhancements when changing crosshairs, grain sizing etc. when using Bio-Formats (e.g. for imported CZI files)

Importing samples from spreadsheet has now been extended to work with a new simple text file format (example provided), so that batches of samples can be automatically created in an instant

XRD: More XRD changes to make the mapping editor even smoother.

VirtualImageCam:

fixed issue where "save settings to registry" was being triggered for the secondary VirtualImageCam window, which was over-writing the correct settings from the primary window;

Allow Brightness/RGB and Gamma to be applied independently to the virtual image;

further functionality improvements when setting parameters.

Cameras

General: fixes for zoom applicable to all cameras

Zeiss: various fixes whilst testing with a Zeiss Axiocam 305 colour camera.

Bug fixes

Sample specification: fixes relating to setting of sample size selection, and lithostrat options

Editing the Well header: fixes relating to country/area selection
