New features

Support for multiple lighting conditions when working with whole slide images, and related enhancements to the import options for whole slide images, facilitating a workflow for importing multiple channels from Zeiss CZI slide scans and being able to manage the displayed lighting conditions and additional "magic mouse" viewing tool options whilst working with these images.

New workflow for logging grain coat data for Touchstone - following a standard first pass to collect compositional data, there is now a new "Revisit Logged Points" option for textural data collection which facilitates revisiting of specific points e.g. just Detrital Quartz grains, for collection of outline data and grain coat data, including specific options for Touchstone.

Related improvements to grain outline logging generally

For Touchstone, any nodes not tagged are counted as unavailable (so coated + uncoated + unavailable = 100);

now applies defaults from Data Collection Options for node size, tagging mode and display of calculated major/minor axes; other fixes.

There is now 'edit' functionality when collecting outline data, so that nodes can be deleted or re-positioned easily, without the need to delete the polygon and start again.

Improvements to reporting of outline logging data for Touchstone.

Enhancements

Saving images: It is now possible to modify the folder location where images are stored for a particular project, and at the same time choose whether to make this a new site default to be applied for future projects.  This is useful for either archiving images for older projects to free up space, or for changing the path for saving images for all future projects (for instance to save them on an external disk or SD card).

Hardware combination

Improvements to microscope and camera configuration windows, making it easier to change the name of a camera or microscope, change the defined objectives for a microscope, etc.

Under Hardware Combination selection, it is now possible to archive a selected hardware combination, in order that it remains in the database (so it is still present if reviewing data from older projects that was collected with this hardware combination) but is now no longer considered as "active", so that when setting up new projects and samples, the software is better able to select the correct hardware combination to apply - generally there will just be one active "physical" (i.e a physical microscope and camera, as opposed to working with virtual or imported images) hardware combination to default to, as archived hardware combinations are no longer considered.

PETROG Exchange

Fixed some issues with exporting/importing projects with textural data;

Extended the format to support comments logged during data collection, and also to now work when working with samples across multiple wells.

Cameras

General - fixed a bug related to setting of frame rate value for certain cameras; fixed a bug relating to updating of Red, Green and Blue slider controls when processing changes to colours;

GTVision - certain GTVision USB cameras are now supported in a new version;

Jenoptik -  changes relating to white balance - now calls a subroutine that continues to attempt to get a new frame until success or a specified maximum number of attempts is reached; also modified the message displayed if this is not successful (it is nothing to do with the frame being too dark, it is that there is no frame)

NnCam (Toupcam) - upgraded to work with an updated version of the nncamsdk (20241103);

Olympus SIS / Evident - upgraded to latest SDK, in order to add support for LC35 camera;

addition of gray/luminance parameter, and hooking up load/save from/to registry;

Hardware ROI - now works without errors, but is not giving better performance than software ROI.

Zeiss - application of sensible defaults when loading from registry if no information found.

Improvements

More diagnostic messaging to reduce possibility of error messages being obscured by image window;

'Apply To' (applying properties to other samples) - changes with regards to 'Area of Interest', to provide a warning if this is selected as one of the properties, so that the user must confirm their intention before potentially overwriting the existing AoI for multiple samples;

When working with virtual images, the setting of motion blur (on/off) is now available in all camera versions and persistent via registry;

Improvements to image window position/size management, specifically to prevent the case where a window can be stuck in a minimised state under Windows 10.

Bug fixes

Fixed a problem when logging trace items during concurrent logging; other related changes whilst testing with concurrent, on skips / back button etc.;

fixes when checking lengths of logged strings when over-writing compositional data after a Back command;

Arc of ellipse for AoI half-moon was drawing incorrectly because y semi-axis was calculated incorrectly;

Fixed errors if 'Virtual' is selected as image source but there are no virtual images available for the current sample;

Disable parts of the window when collecting images for stitching, so that settings cannot be changed mid-way through collection;

Fixed a bug in standalone textural data collection (auto move mode, major lengths only).

PetrogLite v5.7.0

Preventing a 'division by zero' when switching to oversize (Y) AoI when no AoI is defined; and some textLogger messages when calculating AoI/stepping pattern are now "don't show" (otherwise end up repeating them repeatedly in the case that the AoI has not yet been properly defined);

Fixes in the Set AoI window, so that the buttons are always correctly displayed, positioned and captioned when switching from any AoI shape to another;

Fix in for error in displayed "change" percentages during logging;

Fixes relating to checking of logging files that include skips, as these were reporting errors due to sum mis-matches between the lg1 and lg2 file.
